Why give yourself the stress of wondering which OS or component update is finally going to cause software to stop functioning? A nice bonus is most of them are really cheap: Aren't the Afinity apps like $50 a piece? A bargain.ДЄlso remember that 'it works' and 'it doesn't work' may not necessarily be a binary thing: Files can be silently corrupted or refuse to save as a result of OS changes when using software last updated five years ago, particularly programs as massive and finicky as Photoshop, Illustrator, et al. If you don't rely specifically on the Creative Suite for your daily bread and butter, you would be much better served moving to one of the very capable prosumer alternatives (the top-notch Afinity series immediately comes to mind, or Pixelmator if your needs are more basic). If you depend on the Creative Suite as a professional, you upgrade. I'm going to counter here and argue that no one 'depends' on CS5, or any software that's EOL.

My aim is to warn users that, if they depend on Adobe CS5 apps, to not upgrade past Yosemite. The idea of renting software has no appeal, especialy since I am in wilderness out of Internet range for weeks at a time. Several other of my apps have started crashing frequently, so I will revert to OS X Yosemite soon, and will stay there. I've had an update to El Capitan, but the problems persist. Moral of the story: If you use CS5 then don't upgrade past Yosemite. No longer page 1 or lump it.ДЄlso, every time I quit InDesign CS5, the app crashes.
